<\/a>From our STEM workshops for aspiring scientists with twice exceptionalities, September 2017 attendees<\/a><\/a>\u00a0(funded by the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College London<\/a>)<\/p>\n Parents<\/a><\/strong> \u201cDiscovering new ways to teach my child\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cNetworking and thinking about the strengths of the students\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe information given to me as a parent regarding students with twice exceptionalities was very useful\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cHaving discussions with other parents\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cThe ability to openly discuss ideas and network with other parents. Also being given some tips to engage sons\u2019 in learning\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cGetting to understand 2e better and discovering new strategies for motivating and encouraging my son to reach his potential, networking and meeting other parents who face similar challenges\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt was really beneficial for (name deleted) to experience the day in a University environment with some similar children\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSara, a huge thank you for yesterday\u2019s workshop.\u00a0 You are so inspiring, and your vision and passion for making education accessible for all was clearly evident\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI found the whole day extremely valuable and interesting; the sessions with Susen and Ray opened my eyes to possibilities and new ways of thinking.\u00a0 They are both very knowledgeable, and I\u2019m grateful for the way in which they were so willing to share information with us\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI left Imperial College last night feeling encouraged and with renewed hope for my autistic son (name deleted).Please continue your vital work, and I hope you secure funding to arrange more of these workshops.\u00a0If I can help or support in any way, don\u2019t hesitate to get in touch\u201d<\/em> <\/a>Teachers\/TAs:<\/strong> \u201cFor me as a TA, I came away from the day really inspired\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI felt truly proud of the school that I work in as I now know that in our setting, we do everything to support our 2e students and are determined to help them flourish\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSharing of strategies to challenge and support these students and also how to identify these students\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cResources and discussion\u201d<\/em> <\/a>Students:<\/strong> \u201cTalks from people who suffer but are successful\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMeeting people with the same condition as me\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cAll of it\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cTalks\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cWorking with team to build a bridge that didn\u2019t necessarily agree with my tactics, but it was interesting to work with them\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cPuzzles were very sophisticated\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt was fun and interesting\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cPuzzles, Maths\u2026..free questions about Physics\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cMaths was interesting in the way that it was set out and the way that I had to find a solution\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI was interested in Biology and the stem cells\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI really enjoyed the bridge building\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cSeeing what different ideas\/structures worked best (in the bridge building activity)\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cLearning more about engineering\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n From our Inspire Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE), May 2017 workshop attendees<\/a>\u00a0(in partnership with Canterbury Christ Church University<\/a>)<\/p>\n \u201cAnswering of questions about teaching strategies as a group\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cIt was comprehensive\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cEngaging activities\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cBeing made aware of the different approaches that are being taken to inclusion\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cICT links, individual learning profiles, use of SOLO\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cActive participation\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
